Crown of the Golden Lioness

The Crown of the Golden Lioness was first used for the coronation of Queen Carina Ahyen in year 1 and would be worn by every queen until the fall of the queendom in 712.

Creation

The crown was crafted by the most skilled aggregants of the time period--those skilled in both metalwork and gemwork--over a period of ten months. While much time was spent perfecting the energy manipulation within the metalwork of the crown, most of the wait was caused by the search for the perfect gems to be incorporated into the design.

Gem Placement

Eight gems were sourced in all, symbolic of each of the eight enmanities.
  • Hematite - Power of Aura
  • Spessartite Garnet - Power of Composition
  • Sapphire - Power of Flora
  • Amethyst - Power of Flux
  • Emerald - Power of Geonature
  • Opal - Power of Light
  • Ruby - Power of Melody
  • Yellow Diamond - Power of Persuasion

The arrangement of the gems on the crown introduced what would become the perceived new hierarchy of enmanities. The yellow diamond (Persuasion) was at the top of the arrangement, symbolizing the power that imperants were claiming with the formation of the queendom. After being cast out from other tribes and having to create their own, it seemed appropriate that they would reenter society at the top of the hierarchy.   The next level down was the hematite (Aura) and ruby (Melody), symbolizing that while they too had the power to directly affect others, they were not as powerful as Persuasion.   In the next row was spessartite garnet (Composition), opal (Light), and amethyst (Flux). These enmanities were the considered the "more sophisticated" of the physical enmanities.   The lowest row of the arrangement was emerald (Geonature) and sapphire (Flora). These were the most common enmanities and also considered the most basic as they interacted directly with what the earth provided. They weren't considered unimportant, but they were considered unsophisticated.

History

The crown was first used in the coronation of Carina Ahyen and would be used in the coronation of every queen until the fall of Elena Ahyen. In the riots following the Silver Eagle Rebellion, the crown was one of the things that was stolen from the Palace of the Lioness. It was recovered several years later and was eventually put on display at the Queendom Museum that now occupies the rebuilt Palace of the Lioness.
