Personal history

We have begun analyses of the samples presented and have prepared this preliminary report for your review, with the blessings of the Omnissiah. To corroborate these samples, additional materials from those battles fought against Hive Fleet Behemoth have been requested. Those requests were denied, though extensive records were provided. Unfortunately, some of those records were fragmentary. This was further complicated by our inability to replicate some of the analyses performed in compiling those records due to limitations of the resources at hand. In spite of these challenges, we have conducted scans from the genetic materials received. These scans have been frustratingly inconclusive. More variation than would normally be expected has been seen between samples from what were identifi ed as comparable biomorphs, even within samples taken from assaults on the same system. This may be due to contamination introduced during collection, or it could be a consequence of substantial variation between different structures of a hybrid host organism. These samples have also exhibited signifi cant genetic drift from the incomplete data in the records of Hive Fleet Behemoth. This differentiation may be a consequence of adaptation and incorporation of genetic materials absorbed as these vessels continued their journey through the galaxy. However, it may also be an indication of a substantial difference at the common source. The rate and nature of changes indicated leave us limited in the degree to which we can confi rm the relatedness of these different organisms.
