Battle of Méntav
The Conflict
Prelude
After taking over Spirit Dragon, Nelthérie Alea Halvea was made into a general and she quickly moved the troops she had received to the territories of Clan Méntav in hopes of blocking off enemy advancement towards Clan Ysellare's territory. The 1st Reunification Army began to fortify the hills near the Elléval-Méntav border, but a day later, on the 4nd of Tvenor, the Elléval Army was spotted and they prepared for the battle.
The Elléval Army, led by the Elder of their clan, Elléval Sindrain Eria, was determined to strike first in hopes of catching the Nehenian Entente off guard, but the Nelthérian army had got in the way.
Deployment
The 1st Reunification Army deployed their elite archers, Halvea's Rangers, on top of a hill and the veteran light and heavy infantry companies were deployed at the base of the hill. General Nelthérie Alea Halvea stayed with the archers as they had the best view of the battlefield.
The Elléval Army deployed their light infantry companies in front and their battlemages in the back. A company of archers remained on the left flank, near a hill that they planned on exploiting to even the odds.
Battlefield
The battlefield was a lightly wooded area with two centimeters of snow. There were four hills, the Nelthérians were protecting the largest and they had cleared their hilltop of snow.
Conditions
The sky was covered with large grey clouds, but the wind was light and the temperature was around -3°C.
The Engagement
The Nelthérians remained close to their hill as the Elléval Army approached. Their Elder had ordered the archers to get on top of the hill and the rest of the soldiers were to march forward. Eventually, the Ellévalian light infantry companies were in the range of Halvea's Rangers and the elite archers loosened a volley of arrows, killing around a dozen foes.
In retribution, Ellévalian battlemages flung spells at General Halvea's Vahnhérn Company, a unit of veteran light infantry. The infantry lost almost twenty men and the spells were followed up by javelins that targeted the Nelthérian heavy infantry.
Vahnhérn Company retaliated by tossing their javelins at the Ellévalian light infantry and the Nelthérian heavy infantry kept their shields up whilst marching toward the Ellévalians. Halvea's Rangers noticed that the battlemages and they loosened arrows that pierced through every mage.
One of the Ellévalian light infantry companies had taken too many casualties and their men lost their will to fight their fellow nelhvén. The other units held on longer, but eventually, they routed. Only the light infantry companies escaped, the archers were run down by Nelthérian light infantry.
