Crow Queen

Introduction

Crow queens are horrible creatures, a strange amalgam of evil spirits taking the form of a murder of crows. Together they can form a vaguely humanoid form that has a stronger, singular will allowing it to form intelligent thought born from the combined memories of all its constituent spirits. This form remains only as long as the majority of spirits can be convinced to align their wills towards a particular goal, if they are divided the queen will easily fall apart into a swirling mass of crow spirits.   Usually this goal is to consume and corrupt living creatures to form more crows for the murder. A fully formed queen is intelligent enough to put expansive ploys into place to reach this goal, and it can use fearsome magic to manipulate a target into doing things it will regret. This guilt allows the queen to implant the seed of doubt and resent in the target's mind, which will fester until the target is turned over to evil.   When they become more powerful, they also tend to become more greedy. Rather than slowly manipulating creatures one by one, they will control a few of them to commit heinous act to stir the pot and cause larger conflict. As brothers avenge brothers, hatred spreads like a wildfire. And hatred breeds only more hatred, and soon enough there will be many souls twisted by this hate, that are ready for the reaping.

Intelligence and Social Behavior

Communication between the different spirits is difficult enough already, but seeing a fully formed crow queen working with another is entirely unheard of. They are more than intelligent enough to do so, but aligning the wills of all the spirits with those of other is difficult and will cause the queen to fall apart more often than not.

Crafting Materials

When a Crow Queen dies, it disperses into many crows at once and leaves behind almost nothing. Almost nothing. Usually what is left is a piece of cloth that bound the Queen together.   While it is rare enough that few know how to properly work it, it is a major component of an item known as the Veil of the Crow Queen that is imbued with enchantments that confer on the wearer the ability to resist outside mental influence and psychic effects.
