Winter sprites are the most elementary form of winter
fae, nothing more than scraps of elemental cold infused with the vibrant energy of
the Weald . They usually appear as tiny whirlpools of snow, or floating ice crystals. As they grow they learn to take more shapes, and they can even mimic a human shape with practice, although it would still be made of snow and ice and unable to talk. Their only means of communication is a limited form of telepathy through which they transfer vague ideas or feelings, often lighting up themselves while doing so to indicate that they are the one conveying the 'message'.
Intelligence and Social Behavior
These sprites are more curious than intelligent, and they simply float around most of the time trying to take in what's going on around them. Sometimes they take a liking to someone or something and follow them around, even into danger. They are easily distracted however, and easily get lost. If they can even be lost without any clear goals to speak of.
They can make for very loyal familiars as well, acting somewhat similar to a dog. They vigorously protect their master and any they see as friendly, and easily imprint onto others. They are enthusiastic, loyal and and playful companions, but they cannot be counted on for complex tasks or to interact much with physical objects.
