Ghizana Fischamir
I grew up in the remote village Wellspring, in the mountains. I was an only child. My father was often away on business, so I spent most of my time with my mother, whom I adore. My mom loved music so she always took me to places where there was live music. So I grew up surrounded by music. I always wanted to play my own instrument so my mom gave me a flute when I was 5 years old. The music teacher had only visited twice when I started to compose my own lyrics. I soon discovered that my composed songs were very soothing for the people around me.
I used to play with kids from the village, who weren't noble like I was, but I didn't care about that at all. The children listened to my music and they would sing songs with me. Sometimes people would walk by and we would hear them whisper: “That’s odd, these songs are a bit Mariachi-ish”. That would make us laugh out loud. “Mission accomplished”, we would say.
If we weren't entertaining ourselves with music, we loved fooling around. We would walk around the local market and trick the merchants and steal sweets and cookies. It was all very innocent. Nobody would ever steal something expensive. To be honest, I think the merchants must have known what we were up to, but they would just let us have our fun.
My life was turned upside down when I had to leave Wellspring. I had become too old for the school in the village. Because I was the only noble person in my group of friends, I was the only one who went to a highly prestigious school in the city of Swellington. Because of my natural musical abilities, the obvious choice was Pied Piper of Hamelin College, THE college you go to if you want to become a very skilled bard. I was very talented and I was still a teenager when I left for the city of Swellington . Pied Piper of Hamelin College had a boarding school section for very young talents such as myself, so this meant I hardly ever saw my mother in that period. I did find myself a whole new group of friends, who had the same talents as I had and we would push each other to a higher level of music.
It was during this time that I found out a big secret about my father. One day, I was sitting on a bench with my friends, observing which people to trick (yes, this innocent trickery continued while in college) when I saw my father. My first reaction was to shout enthusiastically "Dad!", but something stopped me. This "something" was actually a woman. An unknown woman was holding my father's hand. Her other hand was holding the hand of a boy. The boy couldn't have been older than eight years old. The woman was human, and the boy was clearly a half elf, and had the same type of hair and build as my father. I realised that his absence in my live must have been because he had had a second family all this time. He had been living a double life. I was very sad and so enraged that I confronted my father, right there in the middle of the square. But he said nothing and just stood there. The boy was crying because all the commotion had scared him a little.
"Did you know your father is a liar and a cheat? I didn't! But now I do! And you do too! Because my father is your father! Come and find me when you are old enough and you want nothing to do with him anymore". I said to the boy.
I turned to my father and said: "Because that's what I want, I want nothing to do with you anymore!"
I returned to my friends, in tears. They tried to calm me down but I was inconsolable for more than three weeks. At that time oddly enough my bard skills grew stronger and stronger. Playing my musical instruments helped me with my emotional outbursts, and the emotions I put into the music strengthened the magic behind it. This is also the time in which I decided to help people and to punish people who lie and who cheat.
Another way to express my emotions was through storytelling. The lyrics of the songs I wrote in this dark period in my life had some magical influence on people. Later in life I managed to become proficient in writing and singing those magical lyrics and I was able to enchant people with my words.
One day, years later, while I was entertaining people with my music, a huge half elf suddenly came up to me. He must have been about 20 years old. He said I was his half sister. After a rough initial start, we bonded over the conflicted feelings regarding our father. Not until a couple years ago he told me he remembered a girl saying something to him, but it was in Elvish, and at that time he had not been very good at it. So he hadn't understood a word she had said. I told him it was me who came and talk to him. We bonded so much that we decided to travel around the world and help people in need together. Since I always liked trickery, but I hated the fact that my father was a liar and a cheat, I decided the only reason I would trick people ever again, was to help the greater good. My brother has difficulty trusting people, especially elves, but I always tease him and that loses him up. He fully trusts me and he rescues me when I am not strong enough.
I like it when people are in for a joke, but not when it comes to hurting others.
I wonder how many people I can convince to join me in starting an actual Mariachi band...

She didn't do great at school at the time, but used up all her time learning musical instruments, to control her own emotional outbursts. This is how she studied to become a bard.
Her half-brother, Viktolas, had also found out about his father's secrets and got in contact with Ghizana. At first, Ghizana was reluctant to talk to him, but when she realised they were on the same side, they decided to team up. And so their adventures began...
