Session XIII - Court Is Now In Session Report

General Summary

Bright and early, the Custodes are summoned to the basilica with word that "there has been a breakthrough in the case." Said breakthrough is the capture of Faustinus by Drusus Lupus Milo. The Custodes are invited to present Faustinus' defense, as if he is convicted of the murder of Maera Diodora he will be sent to Lugdunum to be tried and in all liklihood executed. Despite their best efforts, the Custodes are unable to fully convince the court of Faustinus' innocence, but they are able to keep him from being sent off to Lugdunum for trial. There is enough evidence that he is innocent to avoid conviction in the basilica of Urbs Aurelianum, nonetheless Faustinus is determined to be a danger and is to be imprisoned pending the presentation of further evidence. During the events of the trial, the Custodes make the aquaintance of another member of the Cohort, Sin Silvius, who tries to help defend Faustinus by claiming that "the gemstone in his ring is very confused." What that might mean is a mystery, but the gods don't give their favor to just anyone.
