Lexiconian Diet and Cuisine Overview

Lexiconian cuisine - gi'Lekco feyuop literally meaning 'people's food' in Lehkcia - refers to the traditional subsistence food and cuisine of the Lexiconians who hail from the harsh, dim, and frigid planet Lexicon.

History

Later on, when they built their domed cities they established greenhouses and hydroponic gardens to grow food, and they bioengineered plants further naturally by breeding them with others, leading to new crops and plants in some cases.

Components and tools

In general, Lexiconian cuisine is extremely meat-heavy which is then supplemented with berries, plants, fungi, tubers and stems, and roots that are gathered. Some grasses, mosses, and lichens are edible and are thus used in food, and come in different flavors, and are mostly used as flavor enhancers or adders. Food also heavily uses milk based products, like cheese, milk, yogurt, buttermilk, and butter. Some food was also eaten raw. Because the climate of Lexicon is ill-suited for agriculture and lacks forageable plant matter for the twenty-seven days when Roalas is not in the sky, the traditional Lexiconian diet is lower in carbohydrates and higher in fat and animal protein compared to others.   Kcedhu is the staple meat for Lexiconians and the one they all depend on, with thousands of recipes and flavors. Smoking (using moss, grass, and wood from various shrubs), freezing, drying and dehydrating have been used traditionally to preserve meat.   They also make fat and tallow from Kcedhu and other animals and use them in many aspects of cooking and dishes and as well as an ingredient.   Some roots, tubers and stems (not all are suitable) can be ground into flour to make a type of flatbread and other dishes.   Salt is present, but used sparingly due to the difficulty of getting it, since Lexicon has no oceans or salty areas. In order to get salt naturally, they had to burn the leaves and roots of certain plants to extract their salts, as well as drinking animal blood, the latter of which is thought of as highly disgusting. Sodium occurs naturally in the soil, and plants absorb it alongside other minerals. Certain plants are more sodium-rich than others, bioaccumulating high salt levels in their tissues. Once the plant matter has burned away, they were left with the mineral salts accumulated by the plant, even though it takes a significant amount of plant matter to make a decent amount of salt. For animal blood, salt accumulates in their tissues and is present in their blood from eating those certain plants that have some salt in it.   Lexiconians are also very thrifty when it comes to food, for they do not waste anything at all, as every part of the animal was used for something, thus they do not let anything go to waste. It has said that after making their food and items, nothing is left but the noise of the animal.

Observance

Vegetarianism and veganism is almost completely unheard of on Lexicon.
