Nakiton, the God of Trickery

Nakiton is the god of mischief and trickery, innovation and ambition, and of luck and misfortune. People pray to Nakiton for good luck even if they don't particularly follow him, and often blame bad events on him. Nakiton is esteemed by the clerical elite and divine scholars as the shrewdest of the deities; he orchestrates events to create his own luck and rewards those clever enough to do the same. Only the most learned, and a fortuitous few who have spoken with divine beings, know him by another name: 'The (Un)Holy Tactician,' depending on the source. Rumors suggest that he played a pivotal role in ending the War of the Gods, and it's whispered that his machinations determined the fate of the Nameless One. Despite his seemingly capricious nature, Nakiton's closest friend and confidant is Khaverton, with whom he weaves intricate schemes that shape the fates of mortals and immortals alike.

  • Divine Symbols & Sigils

Nakiton's symbol is typically a white cat, leading many to associate white felines with good fortune, while superstitions warn of misfortune accompanying black cats. However, the less devout will often substitute other tokens of luck for his symbol in rituals and prayers.

    Common Prayer Gesture:

For daily prayers to Nakiton, one touches a symbol of luck, or something they want to bestow luck onto, to their lips for a "kiss of luck," although this has evolved into a variety of other forms, mostly associated with gambling, such as blowing on dice.

    Formal Prayer Gesture:

In ritual prayer to Nakiton, devotees clasp their hands either together or around a symbol of Nakiton and raise them up in front of their face in a gesture of respect and supplication. With a deliberate motion, they then bring their hands down to their heart, symbolizing the inward acceptance of luck and fortune. Finally, they lower their hands, releasing their prayers into the unseen forces of Nakiton's domain, trusting in his capricious favor.

    Colors

Nakiton's primary color is a vibrant yellow (#ffd100), symbolizing opportunity and the promise of good fortune, while his secondary color is a deep magenta (#600060) representing imagination and passion. These hues embody the creative energy and fiery determination Nakiton inspires, driving his followers to pursue their ambitions with fervor and ingenuity.

    Weapon

Nakiton's favored weapon is a colossal two-handed heavy flail, a formidable tool reflecting his unpredictable and forceful nature. While dedicated clergy members typically train with standard flails or morning stars, certain monastic orders devoted to Nakiton may opt for the agility and precision of long daggers. This diversity in weaponry mirrors the multifaceted approach Nakiton encourages in his followers, blending brute strength with strategic finesse to seize every opportunity and overcome obstacles with flair.
