Session 6: The Crawland Caper, Pt. 1
General Summary
Malach and Trem came up with a plan, she would observe Lord Tarquin Crawland, his movements, and his estate to see glean information on the when and where would be the best time to attempt to steal his rapier. Meanwhile, Malach would be tracking down interior plans to aid in their burglary. The goal was to complete the theft within a week's time, the estimated time it would take Navid to fence their smuggled goods and then meet with him and his contact in regards to the Juthannan Ruins in Sennid Kingdom.
Day 1:
Fortunately Dragontrap is not only a planned city, but quite subject to government requiring fees, and thus paperwork, so Malach was able to find the relevant personnel to find out who had originally built the Crawland estate. He gave the clerks, Fem and Jalyn, the pseudonym of Master Helden and claimed to be working for Lord Tarquin Crawland on a renovation project and a bribe and obtained the name of Marblewell's Marble & Building Company.
Malach spent the afternoon taking Naki to the market and getting a rush job put in with a leather worker, Pasqual, for a working harness for him.
Day 2:
Malach discovered that Trem hadn't returned to the ship the previous night and still wasn't back, but just as he was heading off to find her she returned with dark circles under her eyes, exhausted from watching his estate until nearly dawn. Trem shared the details of her surveillance over breakfast with Malach; that the guards' patterns were regular, if not precise, height of walls, Lord Tarquin Crawland's habits, and where it is likely to find his rapier.
While she spent the morning recovering her sleep, Malach took Naki with him to also scope out the residence. He then picked up his harness and met Trem, deciding to procure quality clothes to possibly disguise themselves as servants and sneak into Lord Tarquin Crawland's estate. They made it to the Marblewell's Marble & Building Company office in Dragontrap near the end of their business day, meeting with Masters Reldan and Ahmer. They were able to confirm that they likely had plans made, but it would be a day or two to get copies made. Malach was able to bully and bribe them into being rushed and readied first thing the next morning, bluffing about how important this was and upset that Lord Tarquin Crawland would be and that he'd personally have to placate him.
That night Malach took watch over the estate while Trem slept to prepare to take over for a later shift. Malach saw Lord Tarquin Crawland leave at a similar time as reported by Trem for the day prior, then attempted to follow his carriage on foot. While he lost sight of it, he eventually found another noble estate that seemed likely on where he ended up as it was overrun by various other carriages. Malach returned to the Winddrift disappointed.
Day 3:
Trem returned earlier than the day prior, and stated there might be a hiccup with a late night break-in if Crawland comes home with a woman as he did the previous night. After breaking their fast, Malach heads to the Marblewell office again, where he is greeted jovially but confusedly by Ahmer the architect, who asked if their was an issue as the plans should have been delivered to Lord Tarquin Crawland's estate hours ago, before daybreak, in appreciation of the urgency of the request (and gold given).
