Adelia Fridley
Lt. Adelia Crescendo Fridley (a.k.a. Adie; Friddlesticks)
2156: Commodore E. Rammage Personal Log
A transcript from the personal logs of Commodore Earl Rammage. She boarded in the waters outside Los Angeles. The ensign's first commission, her rucksack was bloated with essentials for years at sea, without an overarching mother-goddess folding dishpan hands in front of an apron dusted with flour. What did it matter if she brought her digital music collection? A couple of hacks and homesickness was cured. Lieben wouldn't hack into something as pedantic as a music drive without a microphone or a speaker.
What would the Mater Machine gain by listening to centuries of curated song?
Her quarters were squirrelled in the middle of the ship, thirteen degrees tilt from KT-002's coffin-cell. Company issue headphones plugged into the jack, so she wouldn't miss an alarum or chime. Music drive slotted through a series of redunant adapters.

The universe was filled with noise.

Engineering
Prior to the events of 2155, Adelia Fridley was an unremarkable new recruit-come promising engineer aboard the flagship of the CGM Ithavoll. She worked hard, but not too hard, flirted with other members of the crew and kept mostly to her cohort in engineering. Fine enough, for a girl whose parents purchased her first commission and she thought I wouldn't notice. The exception was Max Allard. After he saved her from a gigantic spider (she swears it was a mutant crab), Fridley began hanging with the often sullen, nervous and confused Max Allard. The first one to call him Maxie, Fridley got everything she wanted.
And being the daughter of a rock god, she wanted quite a bit.
It was Max who discovered Fridley's most damning secret: she was deaf. In any place on Earth, the deafness wouldn't have been an issue. A minor surgery, and some speech therapy and whether paid for by parental hard work, The Conglomerate of Gaia insurance, or donated by Haven NEO-N's, hearing would be returned.
The exception was my flagship Ithavoll. No high technology was allowed within kilometres of the Ithavoll for one specific reason: Lieben could never know about the monsters in the basement, lest she claim them as her own.
Course by the time I learned the truth, there was nothing I could do to Rock God Daddy's Little Upstart Angel. I'll have to do whatever it is to Allard, instead.

What's to say about a kid who got every possible advantage in life? Either turns us into entitled ass hats, or puts us to a mission of proving we're worth it. I see the latter in Fridley.
Born in London to Briar Thorn Fridley and Reneé-Philippa L'Aquitâne-Fridley, the child got the best education, the most connections and it was a god damned surprise when her dossier came across my desk with a commission receipt.
Why would a kid with a silver spoon want aboard the Ithavoll in engineering? Apparently some form of techno whizz kid, I of course, let her through. What? She paid her way same as I did.
Due to her father's career as a rock star, and her mother's career as a fine artist, Adelia Fridley never wanted for anything. She lived high on the Conglom's economic strata, and has a considerable amount of wealth waiting to tend her for the rest of her days.
CGM Most Secret Dossier
Prior to 2155, Adelia was deaf as a child. Her father worried he was the cause, not always covering her ears during his rehearsals. Given implant surgery from childhood, Adelia practiced with private tutors to remove the 'deaf tone' from her speaking voice. She had to, if she were to gain her truest desire: to serve aboard the Conglom's flagship and become an amazing engineer.
After meeting AD-001 Aderastos, Adelia became one of the first Homo Sapiens to experience Amortality. As part of her healing, Aderastos reconstructed her auditory system, and Adelia can hear better than Homo Sapiens normal.
Due to her Amortality, Adelia will cease to age, and heal faster than a normal member of Homo Sapiens.

KT-002 created connections with human concepts and rhythm. Harmonies in concordant chords. Months of indoctrination into the purity of sound begat a clumsy Creatrix. New remixes Adelia didn't remember appeared alongside old favourites. A-dee-lee-ah, the four syllables of the 'she', the spirit upon Kate's chaotic waters. Chains of communication in infantile baubles were gifted back. Unawares of the being in the basement writing symphonies in her honour, Ensign Adelia Fridley became Lieutenant Fridley, moved to new quarters. She waited for the night to enfold her, slid on headphones.
Clear and bright, a congratulatory hymn burst, with that same melancholy basso. The same hum of filters, and aero-drip. Odd, Adelia didn't remember adding something so... Specific to the drive. An urge grew for more, always more variety and sound. Music in languages Adelia didn't speak, from cutures she knew nothing about.
Fridley's subconscious mind expanded with potential improvements to engineering, streamlined ways to repair ship systems. Her best thoughts came when she slid her headphones on. Listened to ambient tracks she didn't remember setting on the hard drive in the first place.
