Crypt.AI
The Combined Secrets of Nations, Hidden in a Hacker's Pocket
Social Impact
The Quiet Majority knew whispers of resistance holding back the corpocratic rise in The Flag War. The relative normalcy and safety of their lives was protected by Crypt.AI, an artificial intelligence which consolidated and hid fallen nations' genetic data, economic histories, biochemical programs, military weapons complexes, intelligence assets and social programs from the corporations taking over the planet.
Ethical & Moral
The remaining citizens did not have the opportunity to 'opt in' to their information stored in Crypt.AI. There was no vote, no parliamentary proceedings, just the last-ditch effort of scientists, soldiers and leaders to keep secrets and sensitive data out of corporate hands.
It is this moral dilemma which prevents Demyan Anastas from using Crypt.AI in more than a cursory fashion, and safeguarding it as a protector.
Challenges
At the failure to claim the databases, each corporation had to 'start fresh', relying on other forms of espionage and rebuilding from the community levels to the multinational. They could no longer expect to 'take over' the military complexes or social scores of citizens, or use medical histories to categorize which people were elligible for which contracts. This bought the resistence, bolstered by the Idless, time.
A steep rise in corporate AI Development came to create similar systems or weed Crypt.AI out. The NEO-N Project evolved from the Conglom's determination to find and incorporate Crypt.AI to their control, before anyone else could.

Military Weapons Programs. Allied Defence Protocols. Intelligence Agencies. Confidential Medical Histories. Biochemical Research. Court Records. Employment & Educational Records. Parliamentary Proceedings. The wealth of a nations was more than digits in electrified coffers.
The history of Crypt.AI is the death-knell of Sovereign Nations on Earth. Once the Treaty Nations realized their fall was as inevitable as the next exhale, in the final months of the The Flag War, a collective of researchers and security experts banded together through an encrypted communications network for one purpose: Prevent their secrets from reaching Enemy hands.
Geopolitical Balance
Crypt. AI was the final leveling of the informational playing field. The deep goals of The Conglomerate of Gaia and The Syndicate of the Human Expanse to usurp the sum total of nation-states' economies, military complexes, population information and secrets vanished. The corporations might have won the war with the disolution of the UN, EU and other Treaty Groups, but their end goal was dashed.
The securing of assets, information, economic plans, covert operations, and whatever resistence was left remained beyond the corporations. They had to start with clean slates without the hidden caches of resources which would have fed more prolific programs.
Economic & Technological Impact
With the Conglomerate and Syndicate winning over more of the civilian populations, the nationalists knew they had only one play left to make: reset the global economy and keep their secrets away from capitalist organizations who would use the information for research and development without oversight, and profit over human life. Hiding Crypt.AI meant ridding the corporations of their truest prize, and also set back research in artificial development, population control, drone technology, bio-chemical weaponry, genetic engineering, economics and health care back by a decade.
The crux of Crypt.AI remained Demyan Anastas, and his reticence to trust any one group (CageWire 2079). While a sympathiser of the Idless, as of 2092 he hesitated to trust they wouldn't destroy the technology in their anarchic bid to free humanity from ID and other labels. His one attempt to reach Dr. Karnak was the closest he came to being caught. His network of assets kept the Syndicate off his tail for more than a decade.
In that decade, Anastas continued to improve and miniaturize the technology, all the while seeking the right entity to pass the wealth of the human race's secrets in safe hands.
Complexity
Quantum processing, neural networks, holographic storage and security measures made Crypt.AI almost impossibly complex. Its rushed operation necessitated human-generated energy, with advanced power backups, precise cooling systems, and an underground global quantum communication infrastructure for secure data transmission.
This culmimated in a blend of cutting-edge hardware, software and energy management technologies from various countries woven together in a unique powder keg.
Access/Availability
While hidden from the Quiet Majority and those without higher clearance, the ongoing search confirmed one staggering statistic. As of 2092, Crypt.AI remains in the sole possession of the entity codenamed Aderastos.
Utility
Crypt.AI was the last ditch attempt to keep military, social and national secrets out of corpocratic hands via artificially intelligent encryptions and redundant data storage. The information sealed within is capable of destabilizing the current global paradigm and outing pockets of resistence, weapons caches & secret programs.
A veteran of the The Flag War, Anastas is a hacker savant, programmer and AI researcher with a nefarious past and present. According to last intel report from Tara-Zeta, Demyan Anastas is headquartered in a London The Bookshop, anonymous in the megatropolis' throngs.
Both the Conglom and Syndicate keep assets in play to intercept Anastas, until recently, without confirmation on his identity. The only nomenclature we had for Conglom Enemy #1, was the nickname a confounded, annoyed and enterprising General gave him: Aderastos.
An intelligent youth whose potential employment opportunity was lost to the War, Anastas lived quiet and hidden until his traitor lover Baiko led our stolen prototype android Lieben to his Bookshop door.

Without the threat of Crypt.AI, there would be no NEON Project, and the Chairman of the Conglom would not have hired Dieter Karnak to augment his Lieben prototype. In many ways, Crypt.AI was both Muse and Atlanta for the Mother Machine, the runner who threw algorithms like apples to slow down the inevitable pursuit. It wooed her.
Oh, this article is really interesting. I love the CSS on it, and I liked how you did the manufacturing process!
Thanks! I had a lot of fun figuring out the css for the card flips (I had help, thanks Em!) & background shifts on hover. Figured a cyberpunk world would be a good fit for more vigorous css.
