Pieces of Eight, Session 4: Ghost of the Sea

General Summary

The party prepare for a meetup on the water with the criminals who have been using the haunted house as a lair.

Full Synopsis

The party descended the house, and once again encountered Ned Snakeshaft and the Wizard Sandbalet. These two were dispatched quickly. Ned was left tied up, and Sandbalet was dropped into the sea to drown. With that situation handled the party prepared the rowboat for the meetup with the other Sea Princes.   Once onboard the party tried to blend in. It almost worked until they fumbled a transport of weapons. This mistake turned into a battle on the deck. James killed several Sea Princes, but was overwhelmed and downed before he could finish them all off. The Sea Prince Captain Snake Eyes attacked Zangrim and threatened his life, but immediately turned heel and surrendered when the fog cleared and he saw his whole crew was disabled - only he and the deck wizard remained.   The party set sail back for Saltmarsh, but quickly noticed that the Deck Wizard had vanished along with several of the unconcious Sea Princes. The party looked for them for sometime to no avail. Unbeknownst to them it was Wavebreaker and his Grave Glaive who were responsible. The Sea Princes were dead and assimilated into the Glaive, not invisible or teleported. The crew did manage to find a Sea-Elf and several Lizardfolk ambassadors during their search however. They also found a parrot, who only repeated one phrase.   "Pieces of Eight, Pieces of Eight!" the parrot squaked. The party took the name as their own. They also found notes near the parrot explaining that the weapons were being sold to the Lizardfolk in Dunwater.   As the Pieces of Eight docked in the port they encountered a mercantile ship carrying oranges. The ship’s captain, Handsome Devil, greeted them kindly and asked Klearic and Zangrim if they’d take a look at his ship’s surgeon - a Warforged - when they got the chance. They agreed, but had a prior engagement to attend to first.
