The Treasure of the Illithid King, Spelljammer Campaign Overview

During the 1200s ABE, there was a colony of Illithids living in the that harbors the city known as Edge of the Horizon. They were there because they were plotting to infiltrate the sapient inhabitants of the planet Lindrinor and Ceremorphold them, all in favor of The Grand Design. However, their plans were put to a stop because a Githyanki creché found them and slayed all of them. 
Shortly before the annihilation occurred, the illithid leader Qhu'drun hid away his treasure. His goal was to pass it down to another Illithid if they ever came by, all in favor of The Grand Design. However, no Illithid ever found the site and therefore the treasure still lies untouched. 
In the year 2317, however, a group of explorers found the ruins of an ancient headquarters of these Illithids. There, they came to the knowledge of the existence of the treasure (but not of its location) and that they'd need a special key to open the vault door to it. One of these adventurers accidentally spread this information while one day drunk at the tavern. Since then, different people and factions have been trying to get ahold of the key and the location of the treasure.
