"If the Orth weren't so set in our ways, I am sure that we would have formed a settlement around the ice tower. Instead we just visit it during the summer when we happen to be in the area. We are not sure where the water comes from but it spurts out the top of a long tube and into this structure that is little more than a pile of sticks. It freezes and forms a big tower of ice. Truly something that looks out of place on the grassy summer plain."— Tasiir of the People of the Horse
Unknown Builders
Whoever constructed the ice tower has since disappeared and the ability to construct more with them. The source of the water is also unknown but the
Orth have been utilizing the ice and water from the tower for as long as they can remember which leads to the belief that the tower is supernatural. Some have suggested searching for the source of the water but the idea was rejected on the grounds that disturbing the area may break the tower and that would be a loss to all.
Cultural Significance
The water from the tower is believed to possess healing properties. Due to the significance of providing water during the dry season, the tower and the surrounding area are treated as a sacred ground among the
Orth; even bitter enemies refuse to fight in its presence.
Scholarly Observation
Recently a scholar has begun to investigate the function of the ice tower. They must follow the rules the
Orth gave them but they hope to discover the workings of the device in the hopes that this lost technology may benefit others in the future.
