"No, you can't do this! You work for us! We paid you!" the adviser said as they backed away slowly.
The other figure took one quick step forward and threw a pouch to the ground, it jingled.
"You don't tell me what to do and I don't need your money. I have a goal, a purpose, and you cannot take it away from me."
Before the adviser could react they met the cold ground with a thud.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Kota is strong and short, giving her a stocky appearance. She is quick on her feet and deadly with a bow.

Body Features

Kota has the body of an athlete and warrior. She is muscular but of below average height.

Facial Features

There are freckles on her round face from days spent working outside as a child and later as a traveler, her small nose looks as though it has been broken in the past, and her eyes seem large.

Identifying Characteristics

Though often covered with clothes or makeup there is a scar above her left breast from a hit she once took from a sword.

Her signature piece of clothing is a long dark-brown cloak but she possesses an impressive wardrobe to accomodate - or inflitrate - any situation.

Personal history

Kota was born in 22EX to a large farming family. She saw many of her older siblings go away to fight in the war, only to never return. Each child that was lost made the farm less productive and the local noble always took too much. The family struggled to get by and Kota saw some younger siblings die to disease and starvation.
When she was 15, Kota became involved with a plot to assassinate the local noble. They succeeded and she left her family to work and send money home. Eventually, in 41EX she was hired to kill Empress Enkhtuya Dodai by some of the royal advisers who did not like the policies she was implementing. While on the mission she found the Empress who did not try to run. Instead, she talked to Kota, who had never met someone with such an overwhelming presence, listened. Kota gave up on her mission after hearing about what the Empress wanted to do and how it would benefit her family back home.
Kota killed the advisers who had sent her after the Empress. It is unknown whether this was on Enkhtuya's orders or on her own initiative. She became a personal guard for the Empress and stayed under her employ until the Empress passed away in 65EX.

Kota views herself through the lens of her work and not through expression of her gender. She wears what she needs to get her work done.

Education

Kota had no formal education until she came to the employ of the Empress. She learned to read and write in the Imperial Palace at age twenty.

Employment

Kota's first job was with a group of mercenaries called the Hollow Blade Company where she worked for a couple of years. Eventually, the company was almost wiped out by the Skyknights. Kota was on an assignment when the attack occurred and survived. She did some independent work until she was hired to assassinate the Empress, who she ended up working for for over two decades.

Morality & Philosophy

Doing the wrong thing for the right reason is her hard and fast rule. Anyone who hoards wealth and denies prosperity to the many is not fit to live.

While Kota's line of work has had her kill people, she refuses to kill children.
