"Ah, so you heard about my services from Deela? She's great, we're related somehow way back in the line. Did you know that the Ordahn are descended from the People of the Horse? Many generations ago there was a battle between Grara and my people. It ended when the people of Beldan with connections to both sides demanded the fighting stop."— Tasiir of the People of the Horse
Two People and Two Peoples
The Ordahn are a people descended from the
Orth and a group of
Graran settlers that moved to the
Orthlands. When the settlers arrived they were welcomed with the great hospitality of the
Orth and one couple decided in the brief time they were there that they would get married. The parents of both were not happy and the couple stole some horses and ran away. They returned a few cycles later having decided they couldn't live on the run and demanding their families change their minds. The stories of what happened are many but in the end, it was allowed.
"Parts of both and also something new. That's the Ordahn way."
An Ordahn wedding lasts as long as an
Orth one, serves the food of a
Graran one, and ends with the new couple riding off on horses and not returning for several cycles.
The are two languages commonly spoken in
Beldan -
Orth and
Graran - but because the majority of Ordahn are fluent in both languages they often mix the two together, by tossing in words from the other language or by using their unique words born by splicing words together.
