Return of the Sky Tyrant

When he comes, the skies will go quiet.

Fly now, to the end of the sky,
Flee now, beyond the ends of the maps,
To all that you love say bye.   Deep darkness follows the Sky Tyrant,
When his great wings come, death on the sky.   Violence, eating it all to bring,
Silence, now nothing remains,
Of all hope when it goes out in their eyes.   You will bring peace to the Sky Tyrant,
When he sees the light leaving the skies.
Song of the Sky Tyrant

Beat Back the Darkness

Lizardfolk oral history maintains knowledge from a time long before even the oldest records on Breharan and one story tells of the great king of the skies, the Sky Tyrant. Something between a giant creature and a force of nature, the Tyrant came and claimed almost all of the skies for itself before it was beaten back by Laiyeh.   Laiyeh was mortally wounded in her battle with the Sky Tyrant and using the almost the very last of her own life force, she created the first lizardfolk. She left herself only enough life to tell the story of her conflict with the Tyrant and to warn that he would return a very long time into the future.

Reclaiming a Kingdom

It is said that when Laiyeh died, the Floor was created, a border between her light and the Tyrant's darkness, a manifestation of their struggle - one that it is said will eventually fade.   When the Tyrant regains his strength, he will come forth from the Void and consume the light. As he flies across the skies hope will vanish, life will perish, and silence will envelop all.

The Lullaby

Many lullabys contain darker material and the song of the Sky Tyrant is no exception. Often sung to young lizardfolk to help them sleep, this song introduces them to both a piece of their cultural history and the possible future should the Sky Tyrant ever return.

The Story Spreads

After the Harani visited Kestatol and not only met the lizardfolk but invited one of them to their crew, the stories made their way to Breharan.   While most stories would be flights of fantasy, many lizardfolk are exceptional storytellers and people were convinced by many of them. The stories would have degraded with each telling except that they were often recorded and put into print. This is not common among the lizardfolk and even considered taboo but it was done regardless.
"We must be ready for when the Tyrant truly comes. The Time of Darkness was him stirring in his sleep. It won't be long now."
