"Thank you all for coming to this exhibition. I won't make you wait, I know what you came to see. This here is the first complete, fully-articulated, skeleton of a winged-wolf. This one, who we call Arduk, was a juvenile when he died. Despite that, you can see the massive almost ten meter wingspan. When you are done looking at Arduk, I hope you explore the rest of the exhibit."
Farer's Friend
The winged wolf is likely the mount that was ridden by the
Skyfarers before they settled on
Breharan. The
Skyfarers have not existed since before the
Time of Darkness and little is known about them or their mounts. What is known has been gathered from the few remaining skeletons of these creatures that have been discovered.
Unusual Anatomy
Winged wolves are aptly named as their bones lead scholars to the conclusion that they were just that. Unlike most flying creatures they do not have four limbs - two legs and two wings - but six - four legs and two wings. They also posses sharp teeth which seem suited to removing flesh from bone. They have incredible wingspans which, while still not comprable to that of a
ketzlat, are several times the length of their bodies.

Artist's Contradiction
The results of one scholar's research into the bones contradicts the commonly accepted facts of the winged wolves. Namely that they are not actually wolf-like. The scholar points out that the teeth have more in common with
lizardfolk than with
wolves. This was not what got people the old academics most annoyed - or most excited for everyone else - because the artist's rendition included in the article depicts a huge winged lizard.
"Imagine riding a wolf across the skies, living life where the winds take you. No one to answer to, just you and your adventure."
