Session 7 - Laborious Ethics Report

General Summary

The party explored the underground lab, found evidence of people still accessing the facilities. Crates from Grey Trading Company were found in a recently used kitchen area. They find the bodies of Daia's family dead within a prison cell. In a room for experimentation, Mirielle discovered Sindri's body that has been dead for months. Asai hypothesis on the meaning of the crystals, orbs, and journal.
Asai attempts to touch the crystal which proceeds to drain her of energy and power. Eventually excuses herself and tries to make her way back to the surface, but gets lost. Before heading out from the underground lab, Surge breaks off a small shard of crystal taken from one of the remaining samples. As the party makes their way out of the dungeon with Sindri's body they discuss the implication of him being dead and their trust in Asai. The group makes their way back to Sherborne by early morning.
Deciding it best that they try and confront the false Sindri, they hike over to the Otemus Branch to see if he's available, instead of checking inside, they head to the back living quarters and end up busting in the door to find the room slept in, but empty. A search of the quarters eventually unearths a hidden ledger stowed in a secret compartment of the desk. The ledger contains pages with a list of 50 names of arcanists in the tri-city area (Sherborne, Glendine, and Dawndale). Looking over the list, the biggest name that stood out to the group was Ewan's little sister, Giselle. A few names stood out with stars next to them and Daia's with a bird symbol next to hers.
Meanwhile, Stig and Surge make their way over to the Church of Zymmera to check on the status of Daia. Daia condition has not changed yet as she lies in a coma. Examining the body, they found hidden needle marks between her ring and middle finger. Questioning the guard, he tells them that he has not allowed anyone unauthorized to enter the room inside and talks about the guard shifts then informs the clerics what happened as well so they could take proper precautions. As they start making their way out of the church an older lady arguing in distress over the location of her husband, an avid arcanist who never really strays from his patterns was missing in the morning when she woke up and has been unable to find him.
As Mirielle, Ewan, Asai, and Xenovu start making their way back to the Pendragon home. A rising wave of commotion begins as a couple of people can be heard calling out names as if looking for someone. The group sees a couple of citizens go to the guard screaming about not being able to find someone. A worried tension builds in Ewan and he speeds up leading to a run as he starts to race back home, the rest of the group following along. As Ewan arrives at the house, he notices the front door ajar and the lock busted open. Racing inside, the living room appears as if a bull had charged through the room. Tables smashed, blood is spattered along the ceilings and walls, multiple unknown bodies litter the room and Alvord unconscious against the fireplace. A single earring of Giselle lies at Ewan's feet in the doorway.
