Electromancy

Electromancy is a new branch of magic only formally recognized 11 years ago, though experiments to understand it stretch back decades. It likely was under investigation before the World Died, but much local knowledge was lost during the cataclysm.

Electromancy defines principles of converting eletromechanical energy into magical energy and vice versa. Put another way, it defines the processes through which magic can control electricity, and electricity can control magic.

The understanding of electromancy was primarily advanced through attempts to understand and improve warjack cortexes. Originally developed by Elarusa the Starfallen, cortexes could be replicated but not truly understood nor iterated upon until electromancy defined the principles by which the cortexes work.

The remaining Starfallen followers of Elarusa, after some internal strife, have declared the knowledge of electromancy to be heresy. With the gods dead, however, they have little true power or political sway, so research has continued. However, the study of electromancy has gained a reputation for deadly accidents and a high fatality rate...

With most of the original electromancer researchers dead or having abandoned the field, further development has stalled out as of late.
