Goblin
Goblins once lived in scattered barbaric tribes, preying on the weak and vulnerable of the other races. However, they were affected all the same by the World Death, and had to retreat to the citadels to survive. They were regarded with great distrust, but thousands still managed sneak in or be welcomed in after the calamity. As a few generations have passed, most goblins are now simply accepted within society, having proven their worth with their ingenuity and out-of-the-box solutions to many of the problems facing the citadels after the world died.
Goblins are unique in that they are innately born with fully-formed souls and have strong personalities almost as soon as they can crawl. No known gods ever claimed the creation of the goblin race, and they seem not to have been affected by the deaths of all the gods. However, these souls burn out quickly compared to other races, with most goblins passing away around the ages of 50 to 60. There are no goblins alive today who witnessed the World Death firsthand.
