Human
Humans are the most populous of the civilized species, and settled most of the known world before the World Death. They erected vast cities around sources of water and connected them with a web of rail lines, roads, and waterways.
When the world died, nearly all of their cities fell into ruin. Thousands upon thousands of humans took up refuge in the most defensible cities around the world, mainly dwarven mountain holds. Of the those who managed to escape the human city deathtraps, many still died in the retreat or of starvation due to overcrowding.
WIth the deaths of all the human gods, there are no new souls being birthed whenever a human baby is born. Instead, children siphon portions of their parents soul, slowly maturing by the time of adulthood. However, this limited pool of souls is mixing and spreading thin as the generations pass since the world died. The latest generation barely have any soul or personality until around the age of 8. Some have taken to calling these children "dull-eyes" due to their near-lifeless stares.
