Act 1, Scene 4.4: Path to river along the lake to the right

TO THE SPARKLEWAITH RIVER
Path a little slippery with some black slime--mildew or mold or something--After 100 yards or so, to a river inlet.   There is still a bit of sparkle left in the water, although most of it flows brackish or even sludgy black.

The ick, whatever it is, is somewhat diluted in any case. A black path of mud or slime makes its way up either side of the river.   The Sparklewaith is perhaps 30' across here, and there is an estuary of sorts beyond the mouth of the river, in the lake. There are some small islands or hussocks, and their vegetation is wilted dull brown.   Looking up the river, you see that it forms the base of a gentle valley, with hillsides--now blackened--climbing up gradually on either side. Path leads up to the valley itself.     [A ways upriver the river widens into a fen, some of it still green. There are two lone travelesr there, two wizards perhaps (really a kelpie), dressed in black robes and a black wizard's hat.

A gnome or halfling by the looks of her, with exceptionally long, pointed ears and long grey hair, and I faint blue light in her eyes.

(Named "Droby Dimwiddle and Skegga.")

She fishes in the fen with her staff, evidently having a difficult time. Frustrated.
In Sylvan: "Oh, Hello there! Gimme a second; I'm trying to fish this out... Ugh! Too short! Always so short!" Throws down her staff with a Sylvan curse. Both Bend over the water, peering.

"Hard to see it; it looks like some kind of crown..."   (KELPIE, dwelling in the Sparklewaith Fen) In his lair also is treasure, see "ACT 3, left to be handed out"   Act 3, Scene 5... Up into the Icky Valley
