Coastport

The Free CIties are an experiment, not only in hasty architecture but also in government, where the original inhabitants wanted a style of government that mirrored (as closely as possible) the governing of the Yesh-him, in which each voice was heard (should it wish to be), and decisions were made by the whole, for the whole. As Yesh-him ways faded, and memories faded as well, as mer-folk bodies quickly disappeared, things went awry. Now you had a group of humans in a space, and you need something else.
TRADE
Each city has its own emphasis in terms of trade. Alderham is the continent-wide place to buy and sell gemstones, and they also deal in stone of different kind, for building and carving. Alderham is a good place to sell stolen goods, as the wharfs are notoriously un-patrolled; perhaps coin has exchanged hands as well, for the right to trade this way. Alderham is considered a less expensive place to trade, with less options as well, unless you are in the business of gemstones or jewelry, or other finely wrought art objects. Alderham   Coastport is more respectable, and there are more city watch and guards about, from the moment you step off your ship. Coastport’s buildings rise higher, and there are more of them than in any of the three. Here goods of nearly any kind can be brought off ships, most of it coming from the Kingdom, but some also from Mothar, or even from Darvenland or the Northwest. It’s always a big deal when a vessel from Maximon sets anchor in the port. Their goods--like olives, fine wines, sweets and desserts, weapons, armor, and so much else--are considered a luxury, exotic. Anything goes in Coastport, they say, and compared to the other cities in Little Dream, it’s quite true.
