Desna of the Singing Spheres

Elven Goddess of the Stars and Heavens

Elves in the western Lacq, among the many lakes there and on the border of the Neverland, revere the goddess Desna of the Singing Spheres (dreams, luck, stars, freedom, mystery, soul adventurer). They have developed an extensive technology in divination, astrology, astronomy, and magic items, all in their reverence and exchange with the Great Elven Goddess. Desna does truly shine her starlight on those of these elves who are innocent and childlike enough to do her will, and be free in her name.Desna has other aspects and modes of worship in other parts of the Summer's Tale, often on mountainside Elven cultures where large panormas of sky are available for view at night. Desert Elves also have a strong relationship with Desna.
  • Desna smiles particularly on the Wood Elven people, who (ironically) do not feel the need to propitiate the Goddess. High Elves of Desna revere the Wood Elven people as if the latter were some “purer” or more childlike (“the forest children”) form of Elf.
  • Her temples are observatories with telescopes and platforms that rise far out above the cities or trees, to where the stars are clearest. The lower levels of these observatory towers are dedicated rooms to divinations of various kinds. Desna is a mistress of runes and tarot and “Gem Throwing.” She also has a set of magic dice, developed by her priesthood.
  • The temples of Desna are petitioned from miles around for blessings of good luck, and sometimes for portents for the future.
  • Desna’s color is a shimmering dusky pastel pink, green, and blue, and he symbol is a rich ultramarine “Dez” rune, signifying luck and good fortune.
  • Divining the ways of the stars gains particular difficulty and takes extreme wisdom and skill when it’s done in the waters of a calm pond or lake. It is said that these divinations are even more powerful and true.
  • Desna also invites “Far Wanderers” and “Living Stars” from Fey and Celestial lands, to the material forest to consult with, teach, and celebrate with the Elves. Sometimes there are children born of both ancestries. Always the Far Wanderers and Living Stars are welcomed to Elven halls and treated like sacred visitors, which they are!
  • Far Wanderers (cr3): Beings of Desna of the Spheres, granted life by the goddess, now wander the multiverse spreading her influence
  • Living Stars, as they are also called by the Elves, are rare celestial visitors, rarely guesting where Desna is revered.
