Kobolds

Kobolds, with their tenacious ability to survive almost anywhere, have spread throughout the world over the past thousands of years. Some of the tribes serve powerful dragons, almost as if ants from an anthill, spreading the dragon's influence throughout the lands adjacent.

Many trubes, however, are of their own control, perhaps warring with nearby kobold tribes to spread their own influence. Each tribe has a color, although there are other ways of identifying them. Expanding territory by war seems to be very important to them, but they only wage war against creatures known to be weaker, either in strength or in number (both is best!).

Kobolds are like dragon-people, although only three feet or so tall and without wings. They have little wicked darting eyes, and they always appear nervous or anxious somehow. Their purple black tongues lick sharp teeth and reptilian lips again and again. When caught alone in a dangerous situation, a kobold will fall to its knees and beg mercy, all the while plotting for salvation from its friends, should they be nearby. (And they. usually are.)

A Kobold's motivation could be either of two things: 1) Serve the bidding of their dragon; or 2) Work with their tribe to secure territory or expand it. Kobold scouts are legendary for their ability to work territory without being noticed, even by Elves.
