LD II: Prologue, possibility 4: Overheard: The Bear People and the Dwarven Temple to Ronja
THE BEAR PEOPLE and the DWARVEN TEMPLE to RONJA
Dwarven patrons at the next table: (in dwarven?):
"Yah, I know. It was a strange thing, but I saw it with me own eyes, my friend. Not joking: Bear People, part dwarf, part bear. The strangest thing, and utterly terrifying, forming a tribe of their own, or several.
"They are built like bears, the body shape of our own, with wicked claws and teeth, snarling and threatening death...
"What's more, their tribe is said to be moving toward surrounding Ronja Mountain. You know the Ronic Temple, right? Looks like the residents will soon be at seige, or worse. Do they stay and fight, or flee?
"You know the way we are, the Dwarven people. Who wouldn't stay and defend?
"I know, Yah, it's remote enough that the militias might not get there in time. They say about two weeks before the Bearfolk reach the temple.
"I dunno why, no. The scouts on watch in the area say the bearfolk might be after some particular item or person in the temple.
"Bless Ronja and her bloody earth; may help get there soon."
Apparently done, the Dwarves lapse into a silence, scowling down into their beers. In typical dwarven fasion, nothing else to say for now.
Afte 15 minutes, the Dwarf called Lynn Broadbraid says a gruff g'night and mounts the stairs up to her room.
