Steps to Making a Character, D and D, 3.5

To create a character, one first needs a concept and idea, roughly, of who that character might be. For Summer's Tale make sure you follow the links in and for Platyer Character Races (below) and Character Classes (below). These hold vital information for playing in the world of Summer's Tale.   Feel free to use a youtube tutorial as well; be specific about which platform you want: D and D 3.5.   The Players' Handbook also has instructions.  Here (in Little Dream) you will find that there are many more options for races and classes, so be aware of that too.   You can supplement almost any of your choices--Race or Class--with further research using the Player's Handbook and other sourcebooks. Your DM has these sourcebooks for your use; they have a great deal of general information.   Here are the steps to creating character in Dungeons and Dragons, v3.5. The first step is to procure a Character Sheet for v3.5. If you're making your character with the DM present, he'll have all the books handy.
    1. Choose a Race. There is a list of Races on Summer's Tale, at this link: List of Player Races on Summer's Tale. Most races are also explained and covered in the Player's Handbook. Make sure that you use the Racial ATTRIBUTES from these links, not the ones in the Handbook. They are tailored to Summer's tale.

2.. Chooss a Class. Use this list: List of Classes on Summer's Tale. Read the descriptions for the classes in which you are interested, and use the links/guides to further explore. Use the statistics chart for your class; look at combat bonuses and saving throws. (Many of the Classes are available only on line, so you can copy and paste the link provided, or find it yourself.)

    3. Determine your statistics and find modifiers (see page). Apply the modifiers to saving throw bonuses: Use MAKING STATISTICS and have them ready for skills

4."Purchase" ranks in skills, number based on Class text, and determine your skill bonuses. Choose a Feat for first level (two for a human, and an extra for a fighter).  See Players' Handbook for skills and skill and feat rules.

    5. See the Handbook for starting gold. If not listed, start with enough to buy the basics. Buy equipment and Keep track of Equipment Weight. This campaign will use the Encumbrance Rules in the Players' Handbook.

    6. Based on weapons and armor purchased, fill in the Weapons and Armor Class sections of the character sheet. See Players' Handbook.

    7.  If your character uses MAGIC, familiarize yourself with these rules. Look at your Class description

    8. Determine Combat stats/bonuses, and Armor/Armor Class, on the link provided in Step Two above and the the PLAYER'S HANDBOOK PAGE.

    9. Use your character as a creative writing prompt, describing them and telling story of their background. Use the setting of Summer's Tale, and bring in any newly created elements to be added to the canon. Show the DM, so he can customize the adventure to fit your needs.
