Shirdalan Dragon Boating

A lethal and dangerous race with up to ten boat teams each consisting of 22 sailors.

Team and Player Rules

  • 22 sailors on board each ship.
  • 18 rowers using oar. No magic permitted by rowers.
  • 2 magic users to defend their ship and attack other ships and their crews.
  • 1 pace setter. Typically a musical-based magical user who augments their crews and sets the pace of the rowing.
  • 1 captain who governs their crew to win the race or defeat the other boats.

Rules

  • The game is known for not really having rules.
  • The races are free-for-all competitions where players can, and often are, seriously injured or worse.
  • The first boat that crosses the finish line wins.
  • If no boats still sails, then the first sailor from a crew wins the race for their boat.
  • Ship heights are strictly governed and uniform.
  • A ship cannot be sunk by any sailor of its own crew.
Ship width and length are not governed, nor do they have to be uniform. However, if the ship is still afloat, it must be able to pass the finish line. Race hosts dictate the path and boundaries of the racetrack. It has become common for tracks to begin very wide, but narrow to a single ship’s width by the finish line.
