The First Giant War/The War of the Frozen Coast
Known by some (mostly the giants) as The War of the Frozen Coast, or to the dwarves of Alioth as The Giant War, this war began on 7 Quatrilis in 174 ADW and ended on 15 Septembris in 175 ADW. The war began with a group of frost giants assaulting a hunting party in the north, and slowly making their way south to attack the outskirts of Alioth.
Famously these villages were protected by Archmage Magnus Amaran with his creation of a wall of orange fire (depicted in the Line of Virki Viburi painting by famous dwarven artist Alistair Sarkhov) around several homes, declaring that a war would ensue should they giants choose to cross this line. The giants were about to back away from this encounter, but as they were leaving, an angry villager released an arrow that struck a weakened giant in the exact spot in the back of its head that would kill it, causing the rest to return in a rampage. Magnus did his best to defend the village, but it was decimated by the giants and he was forced to retreat, the lone survivor of this attack.
Thus, war was declared. After almost a year and a half of ongoing skirmishes, struggles, and naval conflict, the giants and the dwarves agreed to meet at the site of the dilapidated village, where Magnus once again conjured his wall of fire. This time, the wall of fire dilineated the Line of Virki Viburi, where the giants were forbidden from crossing.
