A bullseye lantern casts bright light in a 60-foot cone and dim light for an additional 60 feet.
Once lit, it burns for 6 hours on a flask (1 pint) of oil.
A gale-strength wind extinguishes it.

Lanterns are usually made out of soft metal, such as tin. A textile wick drops down into the lantern's reservoir, and is lit at the end, burning the oil as it is drawn up the wick. The light is focused into a thick lens on the forward side of the lantern.
