Choose one spell or magical effect within range. Blue aura shoots from your finger with a high-pitched ring and strikes your target.   You must be aware of and be able to sense the effect you are targeting, though you do not need to know the nature of the effect to attempt to dispel it. If the effect has no sensory signature, you can locate the target by sensing the effect through Detect Magic or a similar spell. You can target an effect attached to a creature or object, or a magical effect that exists independently.   If the spell effect targeted is maintained with concentration by its caster, you make a spellcasting check contested by the opposing caster's spellcasting check. Otherwise, you make a spellcasting check against the spell save DC of your target's caster. If you are successful, the spell ends.   You have Advantage if your dispel magic is cast at a higher rank than the spell it is attempting to dispel. In a contested check, your opponent has Advantage if its spell is cast at a rank higher than your dispel magic.   This spell ignores the effects of Globe of Invulnerability, spell reflection, spell absorption, and spell barrier, treating them as normal spells to be dispelled.

At higher ranks: When you cast this spell as a spell of 4th rank or higher, you have a higher chance of gaining Advantage on your contested spellcasting check.
