Artificer

Magic powers everything in Loom. They say one must know at least a few spells to really make it in the world. For Artificers they can only connect to the weave through complicated technological means, and they look like madmen when they do it. Once, and only once, artificers changed the world when one developed the first Warborn to stand ready against the Devil Legion. In the new world the once wonderous creations of artificers have become demonstrably mundane. Only true artisans break from the pack and are recognized for their work as artists. Others on the fringes of society act as doomsday preppers, confident that the new world is about to come crashing down, and only their inventions will be left to save anyone after. Then there are the chaotic outliers who work in the shadows inventing illegal and dangerous elixers, arcane armors, eldritch cannons, and steel defenders.

Artificer Specialties

Alchemists: Think of a barista or bartender. Potion making is their craft, and in times of old those potions would win battles and save lives. Today their craft is sold en masse to workers looking for a boost.   Armorers: Think tailors. Somewhere along the way high fashion and armor design became one and the same. In the new world, there's a "what are those" attitude toward ugly armor sets. You can't fight monsters if you ain't cute.   Artillerists: Think shooting range people. The kinds of guys who will spend an afternoon out in a field just blowing stuff up.   Battle Smiths: EMT types. Society has a pretty negative connotation toward these people who spend more time perfecting their construct companions than talking to real people.
