Fighter
In the old world, might was the most valuable commodity. Fighters were questing knights, conquering overlords, royal champions, elite foot soldiers, hardened mercenaries, and bandit kings— unparalleled masters with weapons and armor, and a thorough knowledge of the skills of combat. In the new world, there is peace, and the realm of the fighter has moved from combat to sport. Magic amulets allow competitors to battle to the death without taking a life. A class for gym rats. Even if you have low to no skill for spellcasting you can become sponsored by noble spellcasters and live handsomely as an athlete.
Martial League
Arcane Archer: The Wild Hunt is a sport of individuals, where arcane archers are transported to the Feywild and compete to hunt a specific beast as dictated by the Game Master. Battle Master: This league is the ultimate fighter of Loom. Great singular warriors train for months with masters for one night only pay-per-view fights. Cavalier: A sport combining football with horse track racing, teams of four cavaliers race around trying to keep possession of the ball. Every time they complete a lap with the ball they score a point. Every city has its own professional team. Champion: This league competes in a game called Dungeon Crawler. Game Masters create artificial dungeons in special arenas where two teams of six race and fight to obtain a treasure and bring it back to their base over three periods. Every fighting style correlates with a position a champion takes on their team. Every city has its own professional team. Dragon Knight: The only martial archetype not connected to a sport. Dragon Knights are the last true chivalrous knights in the new world, those pledged in service to the Council of Dragons. Inspiring presences that usually mean a true dragon or their councilor is near. The most respected of all. (named Purple Dragon Knights in official sources) Echo Knight: Echoball is a lot like basketball if it were invented by the Gith in the time of the Chronomental. Two teams of three echo knights play across the court to get the ball into the opponents' basket, except each player is joined by their own echo from an unrealized timeline, closer to six on six with more chaos and teleportation. Each city has its own professional team. Eldritch Knight: The Eldritch Duel is like being a Battle Master but with magic. Another pay-per-view sport. Gunslinger: A stuffier sport for the upper-class. In the gunslinger's league, two competitors stand on opposite ends of a field with a series of two-sided targets between them. They are given 30 seconds to fire off as many shots as possible. They are scored for accuracy and can get bonus points for impressive trick shots. Gunslingers are allowed to shoot at each other too to interrupt their opponent's shots. Psi Warrior: Another upper-class, if not collegiate sport. Psi Chess is similar to three-dimensional chess, except scaled up so Psi Warriors can be the pawns. The "King" directs his fellow Psi Warriors against his opponents, with a board that can be rearranged telekinetically. Kill the opponent King and you win. Rune Knight: Based on a sport invented by giants, Runeby is the rugby of Loom. Opposing teams of eight wear armor with runes inscribed in them and attempt to get the runeby ball to the other team's endzone. The ball itself has its own rune inscribed upon it, a surprise to both teams, that changes every quarter. Each city has its own professional team. Samurai: Traditional dueling sport, closest to fencing.
