Ranger
In the old world, rangers kept watch over the wilds to protect civilization from dangers afar. Many rangers are still out there doing exactly that, but there are new world rangers too. They watch over the urban wilds to protect civilization from the dangers within.
Ranger Archetypes
Beast Master: Animal control. Shelter workers striving to give animals a happy life in the big city. Drakewarden: There may only be fifteen true dragons, but they have propagated many smaller drakes in their time for their Dragon Guard. These ranger members of the guard are given one of these drakes as a companion in their duty to their dragon. Additional drake information is listed below. Fey Wanderer: Protectors to the Feywild. The plane is a popular tourist destination but outside of the resorts things can get hairy. Sometimes taking on work as tour guides, not unlike wealthy climbers needing to hire a guide to climb Everest. Gloom Stalker: Often hired to protect mining teams in the Underdark from whatever else is down there. Sometimes hired as guides to the Shadowfell, though not too many people want to visit there. Horizon Walker: Planar technicians. If a portal to another realm suddenly appears in the neighborhood, that's when a horizon walker gets the call to close it and deal with whatever comes through. Hunter: The police, with a station and everything. Monster Slayer: Exterminators. When a monster gets loose in the city the job of hunting and killing it falls to these rangers. Swarmkeeper: More of a public service. Park rangers in charge of pollinating all the plants in new world cities. Most departments also sell honey on the side as a fundraiser.
