The Beacon in the Fog

Metaphysical / Paranormal event

19/11

A strange fog overtakes the steppes capital of Hearthstone City. A druid by the name of Indigo Fury joins with Daryl, Danger, and Mirian to shut off the magic item causing the fog.

The prefect’s caravan returns to Hearthstone City, the capital of the Steppes Prefecture. As they approach the capital building, they travel through the famous zoo surrounding it. Their journey pauses when a strange fog overtakes the zoo, and a curtain of mystical energy forms an enclosure around the party, the Prefect, his paladins, and many civilians.   The party is let out of their carriage. Danger takes an axe to the magical barrier, but the barrier just disintegrates whatever passes through it. Daryl clocks this magic as some kind of overpowered transmutation spell, and it must be stopped before it kills them all. Meanwhile, in the crowd of civilians, a wood elf named Indigo Fury comes to the same conclusion over their situation. An arrogant elf, he decides to solve the problem himself. Aarden orders the party to stop the source of the magic and save any civilians they may find. As they head out, they bump into Indigo on his mission.   Indigo rubs the party the wrong way at first, but his power as a druid is impossible to ignore. They are forced to work together out of necessity. They battle giant animals, talk to monkeys, steal t-shirts from the gift shop, and make it all look easy. Until a giant vulture nearly kills Indigo. The others save him, and he begins to respect them. Their continuing fight accidentally sets the zoo on fire before finally destroying the mystical staff that was the source of the transmutation spell. They put out the fire and, after hearing their story, Indigo finds himself drawn to the party’s cause. The only clue they got of the person who placed the staff was from the monkey who told Indigo that he saw a “yellow man”.   After the civilians are saved, Lawrence figures the best way to learn about mythical beasts is to learn from myth makers. He orders the party to go to Daryl’s hometown, Bard’s Haven, to try and discover more about the dragons and Daryl’s scar from the legends sung by the Bards.
