Mirian and the Bonner Boys must uncover the origins of the Plane of Water's Pearl Tower to save it from attacking pirates.

Everyone arrives in Daryl’s floor of the Pearl Tower. Indigo comes up with an insane plan. He’s learned a spell called reincarnation that could give Samson a new body to inhabit and free him from the Moonlit King’s corruption, but they can’t do that unless Emerline gives up the soul she’s currently digesting. They convince her to let Samson go and reincarnate him into a dwarven body, learning they can’t choose the race one becomes through reincarnation. Everyone calms Samson down and tells him what happened, ignoring Emerline’s growing hunger.   Daryl looks over the edge of the tower and sees half-destroyed pirate ships; his own handiwork with Birinj, but the water around the tower is blood red with many floating bodies. Something very bad has happened here. They run to water level and Emerline drops. She’s starving, profoundly affected by the death surrounding her. Her scream raises the dead from the water to attack. Everybody works together to fight off the undead until Indigo calms Emerline down. She lets go and the bodies stop moving.   The Chronomental appears to show them the past; when Ulorian the River King and a man named Ronan decided to build the pearl tower on that exact location. The Chronomental dives underwater and Daryl uses his magic saxophone to gift everyone the ability to breathe and dive after it.   The further they go the more pirates they run into mid-attack against the Tritons, but also the more they see the Chronomental. It shows them how Ulorian and Ronan defeated a primordial elemental called Olhydra and trapped its essence in the trident Drown. The same one they encountered at the Library of the Gods the first time. The trident began influencing Ulorian and he eventually puts Ronan on trial to excuse killing him. Ronan’s son, Gar Shatterkeel, swears vengeance. Gar is, of course, the leader of the pirates and currently wields Drown. Now he intends to destroy the pearl tower from its base.   The party gets to the base of the tower, but only the blood of the architects can enter. Since Mirian is Ulorian’s son, that means him. He fights Gar one on one and defeats him, but chooses not to kill him. Instead he removes the trident and rebukes the conflict of their fathers.   Mirian cannot convince the Tritons to allow Gar to become the new Defender of the Pearl Tower, but they do allow him to live after swearing to destroy the pirate organization he created.   The party returns to the surface and finds Birinj. He’s affected by the Orb of Dragonkind and attacks! Danger begrudgingly unattunes to the orb and they take Birinj back to the material plane. He goes to find Braes, Samson goes to find his way now, and the rest all go to find Earlang. Imdril is still dragged along since he’s got to act as the face of the party.
