Expedition

Daryl, Danger, Indigo, and Mirian travel through an underground passage that shows them the disparate roads they had left untaken. With guest star John Cena!

On their way to the secret tunnel, the party discovers a famous fighter by the name of John Cena trying to find his way towards the Citadel. The party lies and tells him to tag along for the ride. They reach a farm owned by an adorable elderly couple. When the owner confronts them, Mirian responds with the secret password. Upon hearing the password, the owner lets them inside. He and his wife give the party some food for the road, a map of the tunnel, and warns them of the dangers within if they do not keep exactly to the path. The wife also gives Mirian an orb she calls a driftglobe, which holds the power of the sun, to light the tunnel ahead, and they set off for Hobgoblin Nation.   Inside the tunnel, they cautiously stick to the map to avoid getting lost. However, they soon find a cave-in midway through the tunnel preventing them from moving any farther. At this moment, Indigo spots Merielle behind them and dashes after her. The party follows in pursuit, but she seemingly vanishes where three passageways lay before them. Before they can decide which route to take, Mirian hears stomping, rumbling, and the chanting of his name. Drawn to the sound, he picks a passageway.   Mirian finds himself walking onto the stage of his final duel of the national tournament against his rival: Cole Mirari, “The Red Ranger”. In the midst of battle against his rival, Mirian began to falter under the audience’s adoration of his opponent. This time he pushes through and defeats Cole, crowning him the new champion of the tournament. He believes himself rich and famous now, and can’t remember why he is in the tunnels to begin with, or who the rest of the party members are.   Indigo chases after Mirian dashing into the dark tunnel -- but he finds himself back in the forest near Morko; before the fire. He sees several elves of Morko taking an injured albino elf towards town. Indigo interrupts them and, without a second thought, strikes down the slumbering Merielle. He is immediately arrested and sentenced to ten years in prison where he proudly does his time. When he comes out of his trance, his memory is lost too.   Danger is lost next. He stands at a literal crossroads between the Steppes, and ultimately Rainfall, and another route leading into the Savannah, where the capital city Citadel stands. This time he chooses a life in the city and starts a brewery where he makes a ton of money, and is responsible.   Daryl and John Cena are left to fend for themselves after Danger is caught in a trance too where he is taken back to a time where he stood at a literal crossroads. He had to choose between the Steppes, and ultimately Rainfall, or the Savannah, where Citadel stands. Like the other two, he no longer remembers where he is and who the rest of the party is.   Daryl and John Cena learn from the others and stick together, but it turns out they're not even alone down there. A shapeshifting doppelganger creates confusion, agitation, deceipt, leading the party to fight among themselves. Danger and Mirian run off on their own. John Cena tries to reason with Indigo, but the stubborn elf retaliates with violence.   The doppelganger reveals itself to the party and leads them towards the source of the manipulative magic of the tunnel: the wishing well, powered by a water elemental. It destroys armies by providing a benevolent curse. The ability to change the course of their whole lives. Having gotten their groove back, the party works together to slay the elemental creature; destroying the magic preventing them from exiting the tunnel. The deed done, the doppelganger is able to leave the dungeon, but so can the party. They reach the exit to the Hobgoblin Nation, say their goodbyes to their temporary companion John Cena, and open the tunnel grate. On the other side, they aren’t just in enemy territory, they’re in the enemy's city.
