The Dawnstruck Wilds
The Dawnstruck Wilds are largely unsettled. There are no major cities, countries, or rulers. Every tribe or gathering of people are self governed and frankly, many of them like it that way.
Some people groups, like the goblins and their larger cousins the bugbears, create permanent villages from which they raid the homesteads or cities in the nearby Viridi Mountains or Ophidian Forest. The dwarfs create whole cities underground, completely unsullied by the squabbles of the other mortal races or their nearest neighbors. The dragonborn found small tribal villages high up in the mountains near their forefathers, the chromatic and metallic dragons while the kobolds create burrows and hide in the mountains.
The avians share their mountains with the dragonborn, but they normally take the mountaintops instead of the niches that the dragonborn cut out in the slopes of the mountains.
The orcs and goliaths are both nomadic, moving with the herds and moving north as the cold of winter sets in. The orcs deal much more with the outside world, and during the winter may even go into the nearby towns for the winter and work as laborers. The goliaths, on the other hand, shun all contact with the outside world and are extremely devoted to their position as the guardians of stone and earth as Rontra's chosen.
While Rontra is the most commonly worshiped deity that is recognized in the greater world, she is only commonly worshiped because she is the goliath patron goddess. Other people groups do worship other deities widely recognized, but the draconic races and the orcs do not. The dragonborn worship their ancestors: the great old dragons of old. No one has seen them in generations and even the number of adult dragons has waned, but a majority of the populations in the dragonborn villages worship the first great dragons. The orcs worship the animal spirits of the wildlands. Most choose a specific spirit to be their guide for all their days, while others pray to the spirit that would offer the most guidance in a given circumstance. There is no right or wrong way to worship, only that you must remain respectful of all spirits, whether you worship them or not.
