Briarfolk

  • Never seen far from growths of Black Pillar Brambles. While there have been confirmed sightings of Briarfolk living and moving entirely separated from the bramble plants, most of the recorded sightings describe them either being attached to the plant in some way, or at least keeping one of their own tendrils latched onto the plant, even as they travel some distance from it. It is uncertain how separate from the plants the Briarfolk may or may not be.
  • Language is tricky.
  • Young Briarfolk seem to be mostly sentient tangles of thorny vines, while older individuals show a more solid form as smaller vines have sprouted and tangled up to fill in the shapes.
  • Briarfolk can be found in forms that seem classically humanoid, (even perhaps mimicking the shapes of specific species), but also in quadrupedal forms mimicking local wildlife. One account, after describing the Briarfolk inspecting a corpse speculated that they're specifically mimicking the shapes of things that they have seen caught in the brambles, though they could have just as easily seen the creatures moving around their territory.
