So, You're an Intern? Part One: A Guide to the Library.

”Howdy friends! I'm Nessie, your friendly neighborhood Loch Ness Monster! Welcome to the Lorecast Library! If you're reading this, you got the job! Congratulations~! The things we've sent to you include a few informational brochures and your new pen! The pen will help you with everything you need in the Library. Ready? Let's go!”
— Nessie

The Lorecast Library is a wondrous place to be! You've made the right choice in applying. The Library is a wonderful opportunity to explore things you’ve never explored before. As an interdimensional library, we are able to look into places you otherwise thought were figments of your imagination. We hope you enjoy your time with us. To give you more of a sense of the library itself, we'll take you through all of the sections that make up the Library, starting with the entrance itself, The Great Hall!

The Great Hall

This is really just the entrance hall to the Library. It features the many entrances to the halls of thousands upon thousands of books that call Lorecast home. Outside in the courtyard is where you’ll find our resident Loch Ness Monster, Nessie.
”That’s me!”
— Nessie

The Menagerie

The Menagerie is what we call the various holograms of animals, beasts, and various other fauna around the Library. It is also the name of the room where most of them reside. Worried that the species you cataloged isn’t there? Don’t worry! They rotate every few days. It’ll pop up!

The Herbarium

The large greenhouse inside the Library is host to many many plants. Don’t worry about watering them in your time as an Intern, we have our friendly custodial staff to take care of them. Do not worry about who or what the custodial staff are. That is none of your concern, just know that they are there.

The Restricted Section

This area is off-limits to anyone who isn’t a Librarian. You are not to enter it. You may record things to be put into the section but you are not allowed to enter without express permission from a Librarian. This section is filled with many dangerous objects, holograms and specters. Occasionally people find their way in here somehow, the last person was Jeff, and he lives here now. Don’t try to get inside.

The Obscura

The Obscura is a section of the library that seems to be covered in a permanent mist, despite our best efforts to thwart that. You can often find various holograms of monsters in there. You may even find ghosts of authors of books from time-to-time. Sit down with them and have a chat, they enjoy it. Although, some of them don’t quite understand the etiquette of letting the other person talk.

The Collection

The Collection is the main area where we host various magical items, or replicas of them. These magic items work just as well as the originals and can sometimes cause a mess. If it’s behind a glass case, please do not touch it without reading the disclaimer.

The Reliquary

These are where the legendary items, artifacts and relics can be found. The entrance to the Reliquary is located in the center of the library, hidden by the roots of the large tree in the Great Hall. Again, if it is behind glass, do not touch it without reading about the item itself. Touching of random legendary items, artifacts, or relics may result in death or death-like symptoms.

The Observatory

Prophecies and Deities can be found here, in the Observatory on the ‘second floor’ of the Library. Come look at the constellations and try to divine the will of the gods. Many books about deities and the like can be found in this section.

The Atlas

Take a globe off of the shelf and set it into the Atlas, and you will be transported to that particular world. Feel free to explore it, as you will be disguised well enough that the locals will not recognize you as an outsider. Use your new pen to document anything and everything the Library does not already know about. The pen will guide you.
”That’s it for the sections of the Library! Next we have to move on to your duties as an Intern. Isn’t that fun?”
— Nessie

Haha, my heart did a little flip of excitement when reading the 'congratulations, you got the job' bit. XD   This is really fun, but also... rather ominous in places. O_O 'Do not worry about who or what the custodial staff are. That is none of your concern, just know that they are there.'

I wish this library was for real. This is what every library should be like (and I enjoy libraries as they are now, too). Especially the Atlas :-)
