Onirrator

An Onirrator is a person who enters people's dreams to treat curses, recover, change, or erase memories, or even face oneself, sometimes literally. The onirrator shapes dreams to make them more coherent, endows the client with consciousness, and accompanies them throughout the dream as a guide. They are known as the people to turn to when everything else fails, as no one wants someone else entering their heads and seeing all the ugly things we hide.

Other skills they can develop include recalling the future of a third party, interpreting natural dreams, creating joint dreams with more than one person, and hunting dream demons—creatures born from the collective imagination through shared stories or experiences. During times of war or high tension, these creatures often gain considerable power and wreak havoc on people's morale. In such situations, rulers or the Adventurers' Guild gather groups of people to face them in the dream realm, assisted by one or more onirrators.

Oniric Diving

The first step to diving into dreams is for both the dreamer and the onirrator to mentally prepare for what they are going to seek and what they expect to find. The next step is simple: put the client to sleep and establish contact with their consciousness. Incense is used to favor the flow of ether, as well as anointing the forehead and using gems to help the oonirrator focus on the dreamer's consciousness.

Once both are in the dream, the onirrator acts as a builder, constructing an approximate reality to avoid falling into the nonsense of the dreamscape. They then follow the dreamer, deciding which parts of the dream come before and after, acting as a narrator who prepares the concepts of a story that the dreamer must overcome. It's important to note that although the onirrator is always present, once the patient has encountered the reason for the visit, the decisions they make must be made alone. From that point, the professional serves only as a guide, giving directions to reach the moments or places the dreamer desires. An onirrator should never make decisions about what the dreamer should do; otherwise, they could become trapped within the dreamer's mind, even after the dreamer wakes up.
