The title Qigsavit, or empress, is given to the leader of the Elven Empire, who has always been a woman. This word originates from Dvarim, meaning empress, and it has not been translated into Matra to maintain the power that such a title deserves.

Throughout the history of the Elves, there have been only three empresses: Tanya Eldar, the enlightened; Chaturika Ithil the omniscient; and the current empress, Niyati Freya, who has lived for over 3000 years and is considered young for an empress. According to what we understand, Tanya Eldar lived for nearly 15,000 years.

Appointment

Unlike almost all known human systems of government, the Elven Empire has no heir and is not chosen by anyone of the race. Instead, it is Simha herself who selects who will lead the elves.

Apparently, when the current empress is about to pass away, Simha makes her presence known to the one who will be her successor. This individual is presented with a test, without knowing it is a test, and if she passes, the Guru will be informed of who the new empress will be. Subsequently, she is brought to the current empress, and they spend the latter’s final days together. There is no record of any elf who has felt the presence of Simha not becoming Qigsavit.
