Beryl Stonetalker
Abandoned in a small dwarven village to the north. He was given his first name by the village elder, named after a stone, as was tradition in that village. As he got older, he stood apart from the other dwarf children, in that instead of pretending to be a great warrior like Goff and play fighting, he would often sit near and dig through piles of waste rock that came out of the mines, or he would go wandering the tunnels himself.
This strange behavior led him to be an outcast and he lived on the outskirts, but gained a bit of a reputation with how skilled he was working and shaping the earth. He made very nice statues and figures and trinkets, but refused to take on any apprentices, or to even be seen working.
A local Nobledwarf had by chance seen some of his art and demanded some of his own. When Beryl refused his offer, he grew angry and belligerent. A few days later, he was abducted by Noble to make the work for him. They beat him and abused him until he finally agreed to do it. They watched him work with his hands, but the work that came out was far sub-standard from the work he normally did, and the noble demanded he do it better. Each time the result came out the same, of -low quality-. Eventually the noble gave up and branded him a fraud, and had him sold to a slave caravan.
