Elves
The elves are among the most proud beings on Loressea, even giving the Red Dwarves a run for their money. Almost haughty in nature, the near immortal elves keep to themselves, and find the ventures of humans and the like to be amusing. They have little interest in conquest, honor, or wealth. Only dignity matters to an elf, and they are the most dignified of all people.
Elves respect wisdom and knowledge. With their long lifespans, even child elves have enough time to absorb more knowledge than the most studious of human scholars. That being said, only the most royal of elves have ready access to the vast libraries of elf knowledge, and those of lower standing either must learn by word of mouth, or venture out in search for knowledge. Many elves will adventure with other races to learn more about the world, though they will still keep their haughty nature. This is seen to be very low of an elf, and elves of higher standing will more than likely find it distasteful to be in the company of another species. However, their respect can still be earned with new knowledge.
Unlike dwarves, the elves do not like stories. Stories are not knowledge, they are memories, and the elves do not care much for memories. Elves only accept knowledge in the form of scientific knowledge on a subject, such as a mathematical formula, a new spell, documentation of a new species, etc. It doesn't matter where the knowledge comes from, and a substantial contribution to the elven knowledge base could result in recognition from the elves, regardless of race, social standing, or criminal background.
