Humans
Humans of Lorgaire
One of the most widespread and populous of the sapient and civilized races, Humans descended from the ogres. By some legends and historical accounts humans are one of the castes of ogre society broken free from the rest when the rule of the ogres over Lorgaire was broken. Low among the ranks of ogre society, humans were also one of the most recently formed by design of the high and powerful to maintain great works of magic at the hieght of their civilization with cooperative or ritual spellcasting. Such work with simple or weak magic, achieved instead with great numbers of casters, was considered beneath the elite and powerful casters of the upper castes. To fill this role without burdening ogre society for food or housing, humans were bred to be much smaller than the rest of the castes. From the humans branch the most recent divergent lineage of the ogrekin, Goblinoids. This branching is rare, perhaps even unique, in the history of Lorgaire, with all other major races believed to have been created from or by the upper castes of the ogres.Human Physical and Mental Traits

Human Diet
Humans were bred to be able to subsist on whatever foodstuffs were conveniently abundant, and produced large thriving populations on foods the elites of ogre society did not care for such as grains and fish. Perhaps contributing to their ability to survive without the rest of ogre society to support them, the naturally cooperative humans who were not culled due to an insufficient magical ability were allowed to take up fishing which was repellant to other ogres, most of whom were unable to swim, or agricultural tasks the huge browns or large greys and yellows were poorly suited to. Their maleable pallet allows humans to share meals with most other races, but it can also put them in competition with everyone else for food sources to support their societies with. It also allowed human populations to survive and grow when the rest of ogre society crumbled.Human Longevity
Shorter lived than other races, humans with social support can usually survive into their 70's or 80's, but deprived of cooperative agriculture and healing don't usually manage more than 50 years.Human Movement
Humans move at a base speed of 25 feet per round.[RACE] [Notable Physical Trait]
