Hunting Moon's Pin
Wearing a pin or clasp made with the tail feather of a Barred Owl is believed to ward the wearer from evil, foul spirits, and ill fortune in general. Messengers of Caccia Hunting Moon, Barred Owls dart their way through the foothills and forests of the Tenebric and Crown of the World mountain ranges hunting bats and other small prey often considered the spies of the Umbrane.
In addition to its properties as a natural ward against evil and ill fortune, the rectrix may be the focus of prayers to Caccia and the conduit for his boon. Other powers may prefer robust and durable channels for their gifts, but the god of luck favors the transient delicate flight feathers of his messengers and scouts. Like luck itself they can be unexpectedly persistent, or fail without warning. The most powerful Hunting Moon's Pins are crafted with tail feathers gathered by the wearer, collected at night in the wilderness. As favored messengers the night raptors should not be harmed or harassed. Even witnesing the vessels of Fortune's Arrow in action as they hunt and eliminate the agents of the dark is a sign of good luck, and inspires many followers of the Celestia to offer prayer or thanks to Caccia.
It is believed that followers of the Umbrane who wish to carry out their evil deeds may first release mice or rats coated in poison to eliminate Caccia's agents so they might proceed without notice in the night. When a Hunting Moon's Pin breaks or fails while worn, it is taken as a warning to turn back or of the presence of a powerful evil nearby. A pin may gain or lose favor when given as a gift, or if it is stolen, often depending on the level of faith or fervor displayed by the giver or recipient.
