Jatek Zin
The festival hall, or literally translated as the "place of play", a jatek zin is a large gathering place in dwarven colonies for celebration and ceremony. Preists of the dwarven gods promote social unity and harmony by hosting their celebrations in the jatek zin, such as the spring fertility festival for Kaaska Amber Braid which offers young dwarves looking for a partner the opportunity to gather and socialize during the mating season. When not in use for organized festivals or ceremonies the jatek zin often serves as a social gathering place for adolescent dwarves.
Early in the colony's formation the jatek zin may be an open air theater or square, but as the colony matures and grows the site is usually enclosed, and one of the largest public structures in the colony. The hall usually features many points of access, such as multiple doorways or by being the hub of several streets or tunnels.
While the jatek zin is used to promote social harmony among the dwarves of the colony, visitors of other races are typically discouraged from entering or lingering there. As a place of safe harbor for the dwarves it is also frequently used as a rallying point for the members of the colony seeking protection, and an entrance to the most heavily defended sanctuary in the colony is often nearby for the vulnerable members of the colony to retreat to in times of conflict. Other features of the colony located close to the jatek zin often include Kaaska's Bolnitsa (place for the ill) or healers, and academies or schools for dwarven pups.
