Mantle of Light

Commonly seen on the eastern shore of the Boranes Divide where worship of The Light flourishes, are small milky uncut gems often displayed within a cage of pewter or more ostentatious metals molded in decorative shapes resembling lanterns by which they can be fastened to clothing or jewelry. These little decorations can seem at first to be nothing more than some poorly crafted novelty with a shiny pebble wedged inside. Do not be fooled by the humble appearance of a Mantle of Light.
If while wearing one you should happen to notice it glowing faintly, beware anyone whose eyes should fail to reflect it. You might otherwise find yourself easy prey for the types of undead creatures who harbor a taste for the flesh or humors of the living. An alert wearer trained in the hymns of that faith can even determine the type of danger and its distance by the color and harmony of the subtly pulsing light.
Even if you disavow the teachings of The Light most adherents will happily part with a spare Mantle of Light for a modest exchange, finding enough virtue and value in protecting your Light, or living soul, from the hungering evil their faith crusades against. The stone within will only function in close presence to a living being, and only if it stays in its natural shape. Formation of these crystals appears to be the result of powerful or prolonged necromantic magic, and the followers of The Light take it as a sign of their god's will that the unholy creatures they reveal must be cleansed from the world.
